Spiritual Hygiene: Reclaim Your Power

Spiritual Hygiene: Reclaim Your Power

In today's news cycle, we are constantly bombarded by a stream of alarming events, uncertainty, conflict, and messaging that trigger fears about the future. In  quiet moments, we chew over worries about safety, finances, health, relationships, and what might happen next. It's stressful, overwhelming; and before long, we're carrying around collective anxiety without even realizing it.

Just as we brush our teeth, shower, eat nourishing food, and get enough sleep to care for our physical well-being, Spiritual Hygiene is a form of self-care that supports our emotional, mental, and energetic balance. A regular practice helps us establish healthy energetic boundaries, remain grounded in the present moment, and respond to life from a place of clarity rather than fear. By staying aligned with our own truth, unswayed by stories that do not resonate with our hearts, we stand in our own power. It is literally as simple as that.

Will These Practices Actually Work?

Or is it all just a bit of woo-woo?

Indigenous traditions and ancient spiritual teachings have long recognized that everything in life is interconnected and in relationship. They teach that our thoughts, emotions, actions, relationships, and environment all influence one another, creating a web of connection that extends beyond what we can see.

Physics agrees in its understanding of quantum mechanics and the creative potential of the quantum field. Here's Dr Joe Dispenza explaining how the Quantum field works.

Rituals and practices, such as smudges, carrying medicine bags or wearing talismen like a protection symbol, are embodied ways of focusing mind, body and soul on establishing healthy energetic boundaries and returning to a sense of balanced well-being.

In my experience, it truly does work. Focusing intention from your heart's truth allows access to a creative field that carries the same vibration. I have felt the energy shifting in my physical and more subtle bodies when i do these practices. And when I do them consistently, I experience a material change in the experience of my world. Synchronicities start happening; what I need just simply shows up; and living becomes more flowing, fun and peaceful. It's all about where you place your attention and intention.

Preparing Your Energy Before You Leave the House

Most of us would not leave the house without getting dressed, brushing our teeth, or checking that we have what we need for the day ahead. Yet few of us think about preparing our energy field before stepping out into a world filled with other people's emotions, expectations, stress, fears, and projections.

A simple daily protection practice can help you move through the world without absorbing energies that do not belong to you.

Before leaving home, take a few slow breaths and bring your awareness into your body. Feel your feet connected to the earth beneath you. Imagine roots growing down from the soles of your feet deep into the ground, anchoring you securely.

Next, visualize a sphere of golden, white, or violet light surrounding your entire body and energy field. See it extending in every direction around you. This light is not a wall that separates you from life. Rather, it acts as a filter, allowing love, wisdom, and experiences that serve your highest good to pass through while preventing you from unconsciously taking on energies that do not belong to you.

You can declare:

"I am grounded in my own energy. I move through the world with clarity, balance, and protection. Only energies aligned with my highest good may enter my field."

Such declarations are important. They communicate your choices, your  authentic intention to the Creative Field, giving your mind, heart, body and spirit permission to stretch, release, and grow.

This simple practice takes less than a minute but can profoundly change how you experience your day.

Is This Mine or Theirs?

One of the most important skills in spiritual hygiene is learning to distinguish between your own energy and the energy you have picked up from others.

Have you ever been in a good mood, only to suddenly feel anxious, angry, exhausted, or discouraged after speaking with someone? Have you entered a crowded space feeling calm and left feeling overwhelmed for no obvious reason?

Sometimes what we are experiencing is genuinely ours. Sometimes we are responding empathically to the emotional or energetic state of another person.

When a strong feeling arises, pause and ask yourself:

"Was I feeling this way before I entered this conversation, room, or situation?"

"Does this feeling feel familiar and connected to my own experience?"

"Or does it seem to have arrived suddenly from outside of me?"

The goal is not to blame others for how we feel. Rather, it is to develop clearer awareness of what belongs to us and what does not.

The more clearly you know your own baseline energy, the easier it becomes to recognize when something not yours has entered your field. And then you can cleanse accordingly.

Cords, Connections, and Boundaries

We form energetic connections with people all the time. Some are healthy and nourishing. Some are temporary. Some become draining when we continue carrying another person's emotions, expectations, fears, or responsibilities long after an interaction has ended.

Not every connection needs to be cut.

Loving relationships, family bonds, friendships, and healthy professional relationships often benefit from maintaining energetic connection while strengthening boundaries.

Cord-cutting can be helpful when you find yourself repeatedly thinking about someone, feeling emotionally entangled, carrying responsibility for their choices, replaying conversations, or struggling to reclaim your peace after an interaction. Often feelings of guilt, shame or blame accompany these thoughts.

A simple visualization is to imagine any unhealthy cords between yourself and the other person dissolving in light. You are not rejecting them or wishing them harm. You are simply releasing unhealthy attachments and returning each person to their own sovereign energy.

The more you do this practice, the more you break any toxic thought patterns that might be keeping you stuck, while forming new pathways.

"My Energy Stays With Me. Your Energy Stays With You."

One of the most powerful energetic boundaries you can establish is also one of the simplest.

After a difficult interaction, place a hand on your heart and say:

"My energy stays with me. Your energy stays with you."

You can repeat it several times while breathing slowly.

This statement is powerful because it reminds your subconscious mind that you are not responsible for carrying another person's fears, emotions, struggles, or life lessons. It also acknowledges that other people are capable of carrying their own energy and making their own choices.

When we unconsciously take on another person's emotional burdens, we often give away our energy, attention, and power. We become entangled in problems that are not ours to solve.

Calling your energy back is an act of self-respect. It restores your clarity, strengthens your boundaries, and returns you to your natural center.

From that place, you can still be compassionate. You can still love, support, and care for others. The difference is that you do so from a place of fullness rather than depletion.

True spiritual hygiene is not about building walls between yourself and the world. It is about remaining so connected to your own energy that you can engage with the world consciously, compassionately, and without losing yourself in the process.

Aromatherapy and Our Scents for the Soul Collection can Help

For thousands of years, people have used the air element to clear stagnant energy and refresh themselves and their surroundings. Fresh air, incense, herbal smoke, and smudges combine the power of plants with the movement of air to shift what feels heavy and restore balance.

Aroma is known to directly influence mood, emotions, and sense of well-being. Our Scents for the Soul collection can be used to do just that. Whether used in a diffuser, spritz, bath, shower, or personal fragrance, our aroma blends refocus your attention while supporting you to feel calmer, more grounded and present with your own energy.

Use a Spritz when moving between environments and want to consciously reset your energy. Before entering a busy shopping centre, airport, or public event, lightly mist around your body and affirm that you remain grounded in your own energy. At the end of the day, mist your aura, bedroom, pillowcase, or bed linens as a symbolic way of releasing everything you have collected throughout the day and preparing your system for rest.

Use a Roll On Perfume as a portable energetic anchor throughout the day. Apply to to pulse points in the morning while setting an intention for how you wish to feel and show up in the world. Reapply before difficult conversations to strengthen your connection to your own center. Or smell them during moments of stress, overwhelm, or self-doubt as a tool to pause, breathe, and reconnect with yourself.

Use Scent Oils in a diffuser to help create a calm, balanced atmosphere. Diffuse Oils after visitors leave to clear the space and refresh the energy in your home. Use them after an argument or difficult conversation to help shift the mood and release lingering tension and restore harmony to your space.

And nothing beats a hot shower for washing unwanted energies down the drain. As you lather and cleanse your body with one of our Shea Butter Soaps, set the intention to release any stress, tension, emotional heaviness, or energies you may have picked up throughout the day. Allow the water to carry away what no longer serves you. A mindful shower ritual can help you reconnect with your own energy and return to a state of balance.

The Power Has Always Been Yours

The true power, however, has always been within you. The products, rituals, and practices are simply reminders. They help you pause, breathe, reconnect, and remember who you are beneath the noise of the world.

Your energy is yours. Your light is yours. Your choices are yours.

And every time you consciously clear your field, strengthen your boundaries, and return to your own center, you reclaim a little more of your power and a little more of your peace.
