In a world buzzing with Wi-Fi, smart devices, and synthetic everything, it’s no wonder so many of us feel out of sync. Deep down, we sense it. We know we’ve been pulled too far from the rhythms of the Earth, a disconnection so profound that many of us have forgotten we ARE the Earth.
But here’s the good news—we are not helpless. Not even close.
The moment we remember that we are made of sunlight, soil, water, breath, and sound, we begin to restore balance. This isn’t just about avoiding cell towers, GMOs, or corporate greed. It’s about natural living—taking daily intentional steps that honor the Earth’s cycles and bring us back into harmony.
From grounding your feet on the earth each morning to choosing to live as toxin-free as possible these small, consistent actions are powerful. They detox not only our bodies but also our energy, helping us reconnect with the language of the Earth and the flow of life itself.
We don’t need to burn it all down — we just need to come home.
Step One: Start Your Mornings Outside

Before you scroll, before you check emails — step outside. Put your bare feet on the ground. Let morning sunlight hit your eyes (no sunglasses yet) for 5–10 minutes. Natural light cues your body’s hormones, tells your nervous system you’re safe, and feeds your mitochondria (cell energy).
If you are into Yoga, this is good time to pull out your Sun Salutes, a purposefully designed yoga sequence containing asana (pose), pranayama (breathing) and meditation techniques. They were designed in ancient times exactly for this purpose, as a way to greet the day and get your energy moving.
Step Two: Create a Sleep Sanctuary

It does its deepest repair work while you sleep — but only if you give your body quiet, dark, and stillness. Try this:
-
Turn off your screens and Wi-Fi at night, at least an hour before bed time.
-
Unplug smart devices you don’t need.
-
Cover or remove any glowing lights in your bedroom.
This is also where Free Lion Body Care’s Lavender Spritz can work its magic, helping you shift out of “alert mode” and into “rest mode”. Spray your pillow with it and let Lavender take you into sacred sleep.
Step Three: Eat Real, Drink Clean, and Give Your Body a Fast

Eat Wild, Local and Unprocessed when you can. Grow some of your own food. This helps you reconnect with the Earth’s natural processes. Choose food without boxes, barcodes, or ingredient lists you can’t pronounce. Avoid plastics, glyphosate, and chemical additives that confuse your body’s natural signals.
Drink clean, filtered water — preferably stored in glass or stainless steel. You are water and water quality matters. Fluoride is commonly added to tap water. Studies show that over time, fluoride can impact thyroid function, sleep quality, hormone production, and insulin levels.
Step Four: Detox Your Home and Body

Swap out the toxic and commercially made home and body products for clean alternatives where you can.The demand for clean products is so large now that big companies have stepped up to cash in. So beware of green washing.
There are so many Clean product options available now to replace everything from your commercially made home cleaners to toothpaste and body care products. Some are hand crafted; others made by small businesses, often close to home. You can also DIY.
Here’s a non-toxic but effective DIY cleaner from Humblebee and Me. I make and use it in the house. It cuts grease and works on stains. It lives in powdered form in my kitchen. I add a couple of spoonfuls of it to hot water in my sink when washing up after making body care products—which usually contain oils and waxes. I also dilute some in water to use as a spray cleaner. It does a great job of being an all purpose surface cleaner. Bonus: it makes stainless steel sparkle. And It can also be used for laundry as a non-toxic option.
I have been testing formulations for remineralizing toothpaste, currently for personal use. So far so good. Then recently, I came across Nelson Naturals. They are based in BC and make a remineralizing toothpaste from non-toxic ingredients. It’s a fluoride free, non-toxic way to clean and protect your teeth. One of their formulas contains hydroxyapatite, a key ingredient in Sensodyne’s enamel repair toothpaste. Also included is detoxifying bentonite clay, which helps absorb stains.
Okay, 100% I’m going to shamelessly recommend Free Lion’s natural and non-toxic body care products! Most of the balms, salves and butters are made from 100% natural ingredients. The Face Chai is 95% Natural ingredients, 5% Lab made ingredients—chosen for their preservation, bioactive and texture contributions. Here are some of my favourites.
Our Face Chai for Dry Vata Skin is my go to for face care. It’s designed to help take care of skin, the Ayurveda way. I developed it when I stepped into menopause, when my skin became dry, flaky and tight to the point of splitting. Nothing from the beauty counter helped. But the natural, bio-active ingredients did. Face Chai is slow skin care that takes you through detox into building healthy skin. What I love about Face Chai is that it is that my skin feels soft, nourished and balanced. I also love that its flexible. When i need extra moisturizing i can add
Free Lion Body Butter is one of my favourites, crafted from beeswax, vitamin A and E rich oils and aloe extract . It’s a must have all purpose body moisturizer. What I love about Body Butter is the way it moisturizes body skin while providing barrier protection. I like that a little goes a long way, and that it brings out my tattoo colour. Bonus: it minimizes the look of cellulite, and makes my skin look smoother and less crepey. I don’t have to use much—just a dime-size smoosh will do my whole leg or arm. My bearded sons use it as a beard balm.
Free Lion’s Natural Deodorant is a simple swap that helps detoxify your body. Crafted with deeply moisturizing coconut oil, sweat-absorbing plant starches like arrowroot and tapioca, clay for moisture control, and gentle mineral powders like non-nano zinc oxide. What i love about Natural Deodorant is that it neutralizes odor and keeps you dry—without blocking your body's natural sweat process. Bonus, you can use it between your legs to take the edge of chaffing. It can also be used to absorb underboob or under belly pooch sweat.
Free Lion’s Shea Butter Soaps help you care for your skin while also reducing that toxic load. Made from nourishing oils and natural botanicals and one of our signature scents. What i love about Shea Butter Soaps is how gently cleanses without stripping your skin’s natural oils. I also love that they are gentle on the Planet.
Free Lion’s Body Therapy Collection offers gentle healing tools for your body. All are made from 100% natural ingredients. What I love about our Body Therapy Collection is how deeply nourishing, soothing and protective each formula is.

-
Head Balm, Irritated Skin Balm, Uber Rich Body Butter, Thieves Salve — each crafted from plant-based, nurturing ingredients to soothe, repair, and protect.
Step Five: Fast for Renewal

Give your body a break from constant digestion. Even short fasting windows can help it clear toxins and reset cellular function.
One powerful way to support a healthy weight is intermittent fasting. While it may seem like a modern trend, intermittent fasting is far from new—it’s been practiced for thousands of years, in Ayurveda, no less! By eating in alignment with natural cycles and circadian rhythms, this ancient approach helps your body function optimally while maintaining balance and vitality. Find out more about the Ayurveda approach to fasting here
Intermittent fasting can help calm the body by giving it extended breaks from food and food processing. You're doing far more than “skipping a meal.” You’re allowing your digestive system to rest — freeing up energy for deep repair work. For better sleep and repair, stop eating at least 3 hours before bed. This allows digestion to finish so your energy can shift to cellular repair and hormone regulation overnight. If you prefer a more scientific approach, find out more here.
Step Six: Wrap Yourself in Natural Materials

Choose natural materials like bamboo, cotton, wool, linen, silk, and hemp — they feel good, let air flow, and even vibe more naturally with your body’s energy and Nature’s rhythms. Going natural isn’t just better for you; it’s kinder to the planet too, supporting a simpler, more mindful, resonant way of living.
I know this one first hand. My body rejected synthetic materials quite early on, especially in the underwear department. It’s objection was loud—eczema on my butt, painful UTI’s and recurring yeast infections. I had to listen and respect. It wanted to be wrapped in natural, breathable fibres, as much as possible, fashion magazines be damned. Not to say that I never wear synthetic. I do–but only in outer layers. Next to my skin? It has to be natural.
I’ve been a big fan of the Jockey cotton hipster for decades. But the bra department has always been a challenge for natural fabrics. Until my son’s GF introduced me to Huha, a Canadian company that designs “thoughtful skin-layer garments for bodies that breathe, sweat, move and live. I tried their Sporty Crop Tank and my skin fell in love! I now can give the underwire a rest and let the girls breathe.
Step Seven: Sound & Movement
Sing. Out of tune is fine. Hum. It resets your vagal nerve and calms you down. Dance barefoot in the kitchen, or better yet, in the grass. It's playful, freeing, grounding and restorative. These are not silly things. They’re how we recalibrate our energy fields—your field; the collective field.
Try listening to ambient music carrying underlying binaural beats with headphones. Each ear hears a slightly different tone. Your brain stem takes these two tones and creates an imaginary third beat at the difference between them.
So if one ear is listening to 300 Hz and the other at 330 Hz, then your brain will translate the tone to 315 Hz. This third, imagined tone stimulates neurons to form neuropathways that influence thoughts, emotions and behaviours. It's a way to rewire your brain for better regulation.
Pair with Aromatherapy for Even More Calm
Take your 13 Hz listening ritual up a notch with Free Lion’s Scent Oils. Our Scent Oils for Uplift bring a fresh, plant-based lift with Rose Garden, Sandalwood, or Citrus Cedarwood—perfect for grounding and brightening your mood. For deeper relaxation, our Scent Oils for Wellness offer blends like Thieves to clear your space and Head Calm to help you focus and breathe easier.
Together, soothing sounds and gentle scent can create a full-body reset—calming your mind, lifting your spirit, and helping you feel more present
Step Eight: Connect: Share, Laugh, Eat, Love
Our tech-heavy world often keeps us physically isolated from presence. Being near others engages all our senses, strengthens bonds, and encourages playful, cooperative activities that reduce stress and boost wellbeing. We’re built to live in community, and without it, we get stressed and out of sync.
So connect with your family, friends and neighbors. Share stories and meals, or simply check in and listen. Small acts of kindness, clear heart centered communication, and steady presence can transform neighborhoods, homes, and hearts.
The Take Away
The path to thriving starts with reconnecting to the Earth, its rhythms, its heart, and its natural ease and flow. We are here to to plant gardens, to stand grounded, resilient and fierce, and co-create with the Earth,
When you live in a state of coherence, your body becomes a clear, unshakable signal that can’t be drowned out or disrupted by the news cycle. Your cells remember how to resonate, how to vibrate in harmony with the world around you. It’s biology, it’s physics, it’s the natural law of life in action. That’s real power—the kind that can’t be bought, manipulated, or taken away. It’s yours, the moment you start tuning in.
So, when you’re ready, turn off the noise. Tune into your vibe. Step outside to connect. And shine!
